Police are appealing for commuters who saw youths throw stones and smash the window of a moving train in East Lothian to come forward.

The driver of the 18.27 North Berwick to Edinburgh Waverley station saw the youths throwing stones as the train left Wallyford station on Monday.

The incident happened just before 18:55 and resulted in a window of the rear coach being smashed.

Nobody was injured and the train was able to complete the journey.

Constable Ryan Tierney of the British transport police, said: "Throwing any object at trains is a really stupid thing to do and I am appealing for anyone who has information regarding those involved to come forward as a matter of urgency."
