SNP to lead Highland Council coalition

It has been confirmed that the SNP is to lead a coalition on Highland Council, after reaching agreement with Labour and the Liberal Democrats.
The move has resulted in the independents, who form the largest group on the council, being frozen out of power for the first time.
The SNP said the coalition agreement is great news for the Highlands.
The independent councillors claimed the three parties have pursued their own agenda at the expense of voters.
