Three jailed over fatal florist robbery in Old Trafford

Three men have been given indeterminate jail terms after a robbery in Greater Manchester in which a fourth raider was stabbed to death by the shop owner.

Joseph Junior Mullings, Kyle Mullings and Nathan Walters admitted robbery and possession of firearms.

They were ordered to serve minimum terms of between three and a half years and five years and seven months.

The Bolton Crown Court judge sentenced each of them to five years for the firearms offences, to run concurrently.

They pleaded guilty at a previous hearing.

Joseph Junior Mullings, 24, of Oakfield, Liverpool, was ordered to serve a minimum of five years.

Walters, 26, of Thorn Court in Salford, was ordered to serve a minimum of five years and seven months.

Kyle Mullings, 19, of no fixed address, must serve a minimum of three and a half years.

The robbery took place at a florists in Old Trafford, where a fourth man was killed by shop owner Cecil Coley.

Mr Coley, 72, had been confronted by four men with guns and a knife as he locked up his shop in Shrewsbury Street, Old Trafford, on 26 July last year.

Gary Mullings, 30, of New Moston, was fatally stabbed.

Mr Coley was later arrested on suspicion of his murder, but the Crown Prosecution Service decided he acted in self-defence.
