Man critically ill after Sale Metrolink platform attack

A man was left critically injured after an assault on a Metrolink platform which knocked him unconscious.
It happened on Saturday at about 23:00 BST after the 51-year-old man, who was travelling from Manchester, got off a tram at Sale.
Police found him shortly afterwards and he was taken to hospital, where he was moved to intensive care.
The southbound Metrolink platform was closed as police carried out further investigations.
