A Merseyside man has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a father-of-two.

Christopher Honnor, 40, of Prescot, was shot in the chest at a flat on Warrington Road, Prescot, in October.

The judge at Liverpool Crown Court, Mr Justice McCombe, told Christopher Strettle, 44, of St Helens, he must serve a minimum term of 26 years.

His wife, Leslie Strettle, 41, was also sentenced to five years for possessing a rifle.

A post-mortem examination confirmed Mr Honnor died of a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Earlier, the jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict on Strettle of Park Avenue, Eccleston Park.

Mr Honnor, a trained mechanic, was the father of two daughters, Katie and Leah.

His family described him as a devoted, loving and caring father and brother who lived life to the full and enjoyed socialising.
