Ezekiel Foster guilty of Sashana Roberts bath murder
Published: 4th May 2012 19:30:32
A man has been convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend who was found stabbed and strangled in her bathroom in north London.
Sashana Roberts, 24, a mother-of-three, was found dead at her terraced home in Cricklewood, last September.
Ezekiel Foster, 43, of Twybridge Way, Brent, had denied murder but admitted manslaughter.
He was jailed for life at the Old Bailey and ordered to serve a minimum term of 19 years.
The prosecution did not accept his manslaughter plea and he was tried for murder.
The two youngest [children] were in our house when Sashana was stabbed to death and left in the bath”
In a statement, Lorna Roberts, the victim's mother, said her daughter was a "bright and friendly girl", who loved dancing.
Her children were aged six, three and one at the time of her murder. Foster was not the father of the children.
Mrs Roberts said: "She loved life. I miss her every single day.
"The two youngest [children] were in our house when Sashana was stabbed to death and left in the bath; God only knows what they saw or heard on that day, I hope that her little girl was too young to remember anything but I know that her little boy has seen things.
"He still talks about it now. He knows that Foster killed his mother... I just hope it doesn't affect him later in life."
Mrs Roberts said her daughter had tried to end the relationship with the killer, who she said was a "very possessive and controlling man", only two weeks before her death.
Acting Det Ch Insp Andy Manning said: "Sashana Roberts died at the hands of a person she had been close to.
"She had tried to end the relationship, but last September Foster used extreme violence and killed her, not appearing to give any thought to her young children who were in the house at the time."
