Published: 30th Apr 2012 12:31:02
A man had the top of his ear bitten off during an attack in an East Lothian pub at the weekend, police have said.
The 39-year-old is still being treated in hospital following the assault at the Whispers Lounge Bar on Tranent High Street at 21:30 on Sunday.
The man, who was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, also suffered a black eye and scratches to his face during the fight with another male customer.
Lothian and Borders Police said the victim would be permanently disfigured.
A police spokesman said the top of the man's right ear had been bitten off during a struggle.
"We are keen to trace the suspect responsible for this attack and would urge any patrons who were within the Whispers Lounge last night and who witnessed the assault to contact police immediately," he said.
"Similarly, anyone with any other information that can help with our investigation is also asked to get in touch."
