Rio Smedley death: Man appears in court in Bolton

A 22-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Bolton toddler Rio Smedley.
Daniel Rigby, of Somerset Avenue, Tyldesley, Wigan, appeared before Bolton Magistrates' Court.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Manchester Crown Court on Friday.
The two-year-old was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital from his home in Cheriton Drive, Breightmet, on Sunday and died of a severe abdominal injury.
Police were called to the address at 17:45 BST following reports the toddler had gone into cardiac arrest.
