Man admits to Derry rioting offences

A man has appeared at Londonderry Crown Court charged with a number of offences relating to rioting in the city last August.

Peter Carr, 24, from Brandywell Avenue in Derry admitted attempting to hijack a car following the annual Apprentice Boys march.

He also pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing petrol bombs, one charge of throwing a petrol bomb, aiding and abetting the making of petrol bombs, criminal damage, assault and rioting.

He was remanded in custody and will be sentenced in May.
