Fifth man charged over Stockport teenager rapes
Published: 10th Apr 2012 15:13:16
A fifth man has been charged following an investigation into the sexual exploitation of teenage girls from Stockport, Greater Manchester.
The 25-year-old from Chorlton-on-Medlock is charged with four counts of rape and one count of attempted rape.
Four others, also from Chorlton-on-Medlock, have already been charged with rape.
The charges follow reports of rape by two girls, one aged 14 and one 15, between 2009 and 2011.
All are due to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court on 8 May.
Seventeen people who were also arrested and bailed as part of this operation have had their bail cancelled.
Det Ch Insp Peter Marsh said: "This has been a protracted and complicated inquiry.
"We have carried out this investigation in close co-operation with Stockport Children's Services and the Crown Prosecution Service and as a result five people have been charged.
"This matter is now sub judice and it would be inappropriate to comment further."
