Jessie J shock at nightclub stabbing death
Published: 9th Apr 2012 11:42:28
The singer Jessie J has expressed her shock at the death of a man who was stabbed with a bottle at a club where she was performing last week.
Father-of-two Phillip Sherriff, 37, a telecommunications worker from Preston, Lancashire, was attacked in Pulse nightclub, Southwark, on 4 April.
He remained in a critical condition for several days before dying. An inquest is yet to be held into the death.
Following the death, Jessie J wrote on Twitter: "I am lost for words."
The tweet continued: "All I can say is my thoughts, love and respects are with the family and children of the man who attended the gig last week who sadly lost his life... so sad."
Before Mr Sherriff died Ashley Charles, 25, from Leicester, was charged with attempted murder over the attack.
Police are now treating the case as a murder investigation.
The party was organised by mobile phone firm BlackBerry.
After the death BlackBerry released a message of condolence which said: "We are deeply saddened to hear our colleague has died as a result of the attack on Tuesday 3rd April.
"Our thoughts are with his family and those close to him and we ask for the respect of their privacy at this difficult time."
