Met Office snow warning for mid, north and south Wales
Published: 4th Apr 2012 07:35:30
Snow has fallen in parts of Wales after Arctic winds brought a drop in temperatures.
North Powys and north-east Wales were affected early on Wednesday, with snow and rain expected to spread southwards throughout the day.
The Met Office has issued a yellow "be aware" snow warning for Wales, with 2-5cm likely in places, mainly above 200m.
About 10-15cm is possible above 300m with blizzard conditions in the north.
It is a dramatic change in the weather, only a week after Wales had temperatures reaching highs of 22C in the warmest March in 55 years.
However, neither North Wales Police and Dyfed-Powys Police have so far reported no weather-related problems on the roads.
BBC Wales weather presenter Behnaz Akhgar said little, if any, snow would fall on pavements and roads below 200m.
"There are very, very strong winds, touching gale force, in north Wales, causing blizzard conditions," she said.
"The snow (in north Wales) will ease off towards the end of the day.
"Rain, sleet and snow will move south throughout the day, and the yellow be aware warning is in place until 4pm on Wednesday."
Areas along the west coast have been told to expect rain.
