A man has been charged with the murder of a man whose body was found in a wheelie bin in Greater Manchester.

The body of Steven Rourke, 26, was found by two men walking on land off Bickershaw Lane, Wigan, on Sunday.

A post-mortem examination gave a provisional verdict of death by strangulation.

James Anthony Jepson, 24, of Bickershaw Lane, Hindley, has been charged with his murder and is due to appear before Wigan Magistrates Court.

Two other men, aged 19 and 21, arrested on suspicion of murder have been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Paying tribute to Mr Rourke, who was also known as Steven Lynch, his family said he was "a lovely young man who was always happy to help others".
