Pensioner's legal costs battle over Donald Trump resort ends

A legal costs battle between an 86-year-old woman and Donald Trump over the billionaire's Aberdeenshire golf course has ended.

The Court of Session heard that Trump International Golf Links had agreed not to seek extra fees from Molly Forbes.

In 2010 she dropped a legal challenge over plans for the resort but was found liable for court expenses.

The Scottish Legal Aid Board also agreed to drop their demand that Mrs Forbes should pay some of the costs.

Mrs Forbes, from Balmedie, had attempted to get a judicial review of the planning decision for the £750m development, but the case was abandoned when her application for legal aid was turned down.

In May last year, judge Lord Kinclaven heard a plea to have Mrs Forbes's liability wiped out.

QC Aidan O'Neill argued there might be a breach of EU law if lack of funds alone stopped a citizen's court challenge.

The argument was put on hold until the legal aid authorities made up their mind.

Mrs Forbes is still arguing with the Scottish Legal Aid Board about whether they were right to stop her legal aid in the first place.
