The family of a 12-year-old cyclist who died in a collision with a car in Manchester have paid tribute to him.

Junaid Ali Khan died when his bike was in collision with a Suzuki Swift in Brantingham Road, Chorlton, at about 15:40 GMT on Saturday.

Junaid was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead.

His family said: "He was lively, fun, cheeky and loved his sports. He always had a smile on his face, which lighted any dark room."

The family said Junaid, who attended Chorlton High School, was "very much loved by his friends and people knew him as a cheerful young lad".

They added: "He did so much for his family especially his younger sister Mariam."
