Somebody That I Used To Know, featuring young New Zealand star Kimbra, held off N Dubz singer Dappy and Queen guitarist Brian May with Rockstar.
Scots singer Emeli Sande reclaimed the number one slot in the album chart from Adele's 21 with Our Version Of Events.
The Ting Tings scraped into the top 40 with Sounds From Nowheresville.
The album is the second from the Manchester duo and comes four years after their debut We Started Nothing topped the UK chart.
Rock singer Meat Loaf just made the top five with Hell In A Handbasket while Irish band The Cranberries and their sixth studio album Roses entered the chart at number 37.
Prog-rockers Pink Floyd's reissue of The Wall entered at number 22.

Other climbers were Kelly Clarkson's Stronger, up five places to eight and Jay Z and Kanye West with N***** in Paris.
The week's biggest fall was Brit-winner Lana Del Rey's Video Games which fell 14 places to number 34.
