Daniel Whiteley assault: Three charged with attempted murder

Three people from Manchester have been charged over an attack on a student who was found in a ditch with multiple injuries to his head and body.

Michael Brownlie, 26, of Erneley Close, Longsight, Nicholas Lindsay, 21, of Aked Close, Longsight and Katie Mongan, 18, of Mount Road, Longsight have been charged with attempted murder.

They will appear before Manchester City Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Daniel Whiteley, 19, from Barnsley, was found in Platt Fields Park on Tuesday.

A first-year English student at the University of Manchester, he remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital where he had surgery for life-threatening injuries.
