Bolton boss Owen Coyle praises special Daniel Sturridge

Bolton manager Owen Coyle says on-loan striker Daniel Sturridge can take his game to another level during his time at the club.

Sturridge scored his fourth goal in as many games since arriving from Chelsea to secure a 1-1 draw against Newcastle.

"He can finish left foot, right foot, he can score headed goals and he has got pace to burn," said Coyle.

"There's no doubt he is a natural goalscorer, but he is more than that, he is a natural footballer."

Coyle believes that Sturridge, who is expected to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, can replicate the England midfielder Jack Wilshere's success at Bolton when he was on loan from Arsenal.

"Jack Wilshere has taken his game to another level now, and I have got no doubts Daniel can - that's why I brought him to the football club, because I believed he was that special," Coyle added.

"I love football, I want to come and be entertained and when he gets the ball, everybody in the stadium thinks something exciting might happen.

"That's the type of player we want in the Barclays Premier League."

Coyle guided Bolton to a 14th-place finish last season after leaving Burnley to take up the reins at the Reebok in January 2010.

The point at St James' Park moves his side up to seventh and into contention for a Europa League place, while victory over Fulham in midweek booked an FA Cup quarter-final against Birmingham.

Pardew satisfied despite frustrating day

"I felt we were terrific all day," Coyle said of his side's performance.

"We started really well and then found ourselves a goal down but we have showed the belief to come back into the game.

"We scored a very good goal and could have had others so I'm delighted. It is continual improvement like we have had recently."

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew was also content with the result, but suggested the outcome could have been different had Ryan Taylor not been dismissed for a rash tackle on Johan Elmander.

"We've had one of those days that has been a bit frustrating but on reflection we might take that point because it could be important. Every point is gold dust in this division," he said.

"The sending off changed events. Ryan has had a bad touch and then has just made another mistake because he has launched a bit, but he has not got a malicious bone in his body.

"There will not be any punishment from me on that one. I didn't think he went to hurt the player."
