Rochdale man jailed for stabbing teenager
Published: 22nd Jan 2010 13:38:34
A man who stabbed a 16-year-old boy in the neck and chest with a kitchen knife in Greater Manchester has been jailed.
Kamran Akram, of Kingsway, Rochdale, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent at Minshull Street Crown Court.
The 27-year-old was sentenced to two years and three months in prison.
Akram drove his victim to a back street on 6 January and stabbed him, police said. The boy managed to escape the car and ran to his sister's house.
The teenager needed four stitches to his chest and 10 to his neck. He also had to undergo surgery for tendon and nerve damage to his hand, police said.
Det Con Matthew Cassidy said: "Akram could easily have killed the victim in this attack and clearly had no regard for his life."
