Published: 9th Jan 2011 23:07:31
A man has been charged with the murder of a 14-month-old boy in east London.
Officers were alerted after the baby was pronounced dead at an east London hospital on Thursday afternoon.
He had been taken to the hospital earlier that day. Post-mortem tests revealed he died from a blunt trauma injury to the abdomen.
The Metropolitan Police (Met) said Nathan Allen, 26, of Erith Crescent, Romford, was due to appear at Havering Magistrates' Court on Monday.
Detectives from the Met's Child Abuse Investigation Team are investigating the death.
