Manchester's disppointment at World Cup announcement
Published: 2nd Dec 2010 15:49:15
Football fans in Manchester watched with disappointment as Fifa announced that England would not host the 2018 World Cup.
People gathered in Spinningfields as Fifa president Sepp Blatter declared that Russia would host the contest.
Among the crowd were former England player Mike Summerbee and Manchester City Council leader Sir Richard Leese.
Had England won the bid, Old Trafford and the City of Manchester stadium were due to host matches.
